When Will You Lose Your Job To The Robots?
Have you asked yourself when you will lose your job to the robots? If you haven’t thought about it, you aren’t paying attention. My friends have said that I’m making too much of it, but I’ll be passing them this example. In China, a tech company has set up a factory that is running almost exclusively by robots. In fact, they replaced 90% of their workers taking them from 650 down to 60.
The Changying Precision Technology Company use automatic machines, autonomous transport trucks and other automated equipment in the warehouse to produce parts for cell phones. They appear to be pretty happy with the change and the General Manager believes they will be able to get the employee count down to 20 at some point in the future.
Why wouldn’t they be happy, the robots are much more productive and do a better job than humans. They are almost 3 times faster as production has increased from 8,000 pieces to 21,000, and the defect rate used to be around 25% and now it’s under 5%. Of course, the owners would love to replace more jobs with robots. Shoot, they should replace themselves at that rate.
