Sayaka Ganz Creates Art From Discarded Plastic

Sayaka Ganz Creates Art From Discarded Plastic

Sayaka’s work is truly beautiful even though it uses common ordinary items discarded in our everyday lives.  She uses plastic collected as she goes about her day, and she keeps about 30 bins in her basement until she has enough to start a new project.  Then she fits the puzzle together and paints it all the same color.  I think it comes together wonderfully.  It makes you wonder what else we throw away that still has value to someone somewhere.  Check out these beautiful sculptures and her statement below to see what she believes drives her art.

Artist Statment

“One of the important tasks for artists of our time is to bring more of the natural world back into people’s lives, especially in urban areas. When we encounter the true wonders of nature, the beauty we behold transcends our intellects and reaches directly to our hearts. I desire a similar response from viewers of my work; to provoke a re-examination of our relationship to the natural world.”
